Texas Holdem

Texas Holdem is a variety of Poker, a card game which originated in the 19th century. The origins of Poker are still disputed to this day, with a number of conflicting accounts about where it came from, and who first played it; similar games exist back to the Renaissance period. The word 'Poker' actually comes from the German word 'pochen', which means "to knock".

The popularity of this seven card poker game can be ascribed to its simple rules that can be grasped with ease even by a beginner. Nonetheless, the simplicity of its rules should not be equated with an undemanding card game as it requires a lot of skill and practice to become a pro at this fast paced game.

In this game a disc known as a dealer button is used to point out the place from where cards will be dealt, prior to which the players sitting to the left of the disc are required to play large and small blinds.

These bets are a part of the first betting round that begins after two face down cards are dealt to each poker player and the first bet is made by the player sitting to the left of the blind bets. Betting continues in a clockwise direction around the table with the last bet being made by the large blind.

The next betting round of Texas Holdem Game is preceded by three community cards that are dealt face up and followed by another face up card. The final betting round commences with the face up deal of the fifth card in which the players remaining in the hand show the same and the winning hand takes the pot home.
